On 26 April 2011 the Provost of DTU, Anders Overgaard Bjarklev, entered as new chairman of the board of directors of IPU, appointed by the President of DTU, Lars Pallesen. Now, the board of directors of DTU has decided to appoint Anders Overgaard Bjarklev President of DTU as of 1 November 2011.

Since the beginning in 1956, the chair has been filled by the following persons:

Anders Overgaard Bjarklev took office as Provost of DTU on 1 September 2010. In connection with this appointment the President of DTU, Lars Pallesen, said: "With the appointment of Anders Bjarklev as new Provost, DTU gets a highly respected, diligent and tireless individual who through his fine academic career has obtained vast insight into education, research and innovation. Most of all, the university gets a leader who has shown that he masters to create results for DTU together with and through others. I am convinced that he will continue to do so in his new function."

His scientific output is comprehensive, including more than 150 scientific papers in international publications. He has served as a referee for a number of scientific journals, among these "Science" and "Nature". He has a lot of teaching experience, just like his research has resulted in a number of patents/patent applications and occasioned establishment of two companies and an extensive network within the IKT field. He has received a number of awards and appointments, among these the technical grant of Villum Kann Rasmussen of DKK 1.5 million.
