IPU – 50 years of nonstop development
In 2006, IPU celebrates its 50-year anniversary. On that occasion, IPU is publishing an anniversary book, which includes interviews with IPU’s many public and private collaborating partners, who present examples of specific projects in their company, where IPU has contributed with its expertise.
Today, IPU holds a key position as a professional engineering company in the Danish business community. The close links to the nation’s leading technical/scientific university provide IPU with a wider range of opportunities for development than a traditional engineering company would have.
IPU is able to transform results from research into accessible products and services with high-level knowledge and technology content. This leaves IPU in a particularly attractive position as a development center for the business community and public institutions.
The primary task for IPU is to quickly pick up and translate research into commercial and useable realities. IPU is a particularly competent problem-solver in terms of combining production, construction, and technical design with communication and consultancy services.
One of the key areas for IPU is tailor-made knowledge delivery; i.e. “knowledge on time and according to the customer’s need”. Due to its expertise in a line of specialties as well as experience with interdisciplinary development projects, IPU is well placed to translate knowledge onto partners in the private and public sector projects of tomorrow.
The vision of IPU is to predict the engineering needs of the business community as well as society, and to develop the methods, technologies, and tools necessary. This is done based on IPU’s own development projects, national methods, and international collaborations, as well as an extremely close collaboration with researchers and specialists at DTU.
In the beginning of the new millennium, IPU has become an established company covering a line of specialties. And IPU continues to develop initiatives, which are adapted to the needs of the business community. Some of the brand new initiatives are e.g. the collaboration with BioCentrum, the Department of Informatics and Mathematic Modelling, as well as the Department of Chemical Engineering. Some of the endeavors in the years to come are e.g. collaborations with other institutions with the aim of transferring knowledge from DTU to the Danish business community.
