The mission of IPU is to offer highly qualified development, consultant, and collaboration services with specialists in core engineering and communication technology specialties. The purpose is to strengthen the business capacities of the client companies by creating innovative and forward-looking solutions.

In order to achieve this, the articles of association state that the purpose of the department is to promote this particular kind of research and to carry out engineering projects, which are technological/scientific, and which are of importance to the Danish community and the Danish business community.

Also, the objective of the department is to promote the collaboration between the university and the private and public sector.
