MANUFACTURING OF TOOLS FOR MICROTECHNOLOGICAL PRODUCTION
The trend is for more and more mechanical micro components to be used in modern products. Producing these components make increasing demands on the tool technologies. In many cases, conventional processes for tool manufacturing need to be replaced by completely new processes or new employment of existing processes.
IPU-Manufacturing is able to provide general knowledge about the manufacturing and design of tools for microtechnological production. The tools can be manufactured using different processes, e.g.:
In the case of micro milling, IPU-Manufacturing is able to process using tools as small as Ø 0.2 mm in materials with up to 60 HRC hardness.
IPU-Manufacturing uses a brand new high-precision μ-EDM machine with a positional accuracy of +/- 2 μm. This is used to produce cold forging tools in 64 HRC and micro injection tools for, e.g., microfluid systems.
IPU-Manufacturing has one of the most sophisticated laboratories in Europe for electro forming with temperature control and clean room technologies. Tools can be made in, e.g., hard nickel alloys with added cobalt or tungsten.
In the field of laser technology, IPU-Manufacturing has a fibre laser and an Nd:YAG laser for welding and cutting as well as diode and CO2 lasers primarily for welding.
