The Process and Metrology Unit offers assistance on both thermal and mechanical processes in plastics and metals, e.g. machining, casting, welding, forging, laser machining and sheet metal forming. The processes are analysed and optimised using commercial FE programs, where the unit’s competences in terms of materials testing and tribology are utilised. The unit is also characterised by having vast practical experience. IPU’s subsidiary company “Centre for Geometric Metrology” is linked closely with this unit.
