SPECIAL EQUIPMENT FOR SPACE SCIENCE
The 5-axis sample extraction robot is an example of special equipment, developed by IPU-Production for Rovsing A/S to be used for ground-based, scientific studies of bacteria and invertebrate animals, while in a weightless condition aboard the International Space Station.
The robot is designed to handle sample extraction, feed nutrients and make adjustments of control organs in the incubator.
General robot specifications:
Range of motion 860 x 330 x 45 mm linear ± 7200 degrees in rotation
Reproducibility < 0,1 mm for linear axis and < 1 degree for rotation
Speed up to 20 mm/s for linear axis and 300 RPM for the axis of rotation.
