Danfoss manufactures and sells refrigeration products, including controls for monitoring and adjusting, e.g., refrigerated displays. In 2000, Danfoss developed the first generation of EKCs for refrigeration control in, e.g., refrigerated displays.

IPU was in charge of the design phase of the first generation of EKCs, and as the second generation of EKCs was developed, it was only natural to let IPU try to further develop the successful design from the first generation.
