Design for Assembly

The purpose of the course is to provide participants with tools and approaches for developing products that are designed with regard to the assembly process.

Participants are introduced to the assembly processes and operations as well as assembly equipment and facilities. Based on this, participants are introduced to the principles and guidelines for design for assembly.

It is possible to extend the course to include an introduction to a PC-based software package from Lucas Engineering, which is based on the above guidelines for design for assembly.

The course is intended for development, design and production professionals in the mechanical and mechatronical industries. The duration of the course is usually one to two days.

The course is taught as a classroom course, and is advantageously supplemented with assignments in which techniques are tested and discussed. Elements from participants’ development projects can be included in the assignments and discussions.

The teaching staff is made up of IPU and MEK staff with long-running experience in product development and the “Design for Assembly” and “Design for Manufacture” concepts in particular.

The course is a standard course, which can be adapted to the individual company.

The course is based on the books "Montageteknik - montagerigtig konstruktion" and "Montageteknik - fleksibel automatisk montage". Copies of selected overheads are handed out at the beginning of the course.
