Industry is becoming more and more affected by environmental demands placed on product and production. The purpose of the course is to introduce the topic “Environmentally friendly design”, to support environmentally friendly ways of thinking and to provide participants with tools for environmentally correct design. 

The course covers the following topics:

• Introduction
• Role of the product developer
• “Product service life” approach
• Life cycle analysis
• Methodical approaches
• Environmentally based product innovation

The course is based on 50% theory and 50% exercises, where participants will have a chance to test tools and approaches. We focus on having discussions underway. Upon request, elements from the participants’ own development projects are used in the assignments and discussions.

The course is intended for development and design professionals in the mechanical and mechatronical industries. The duration of the course is usually one to two days.

The teaching staff is made up of IPU and MEK staff with several years of experience in product development and particularly environmentally friendly design.

The course is a standard course, which can be adapted to fit the individual company.

Participants are given a folder containing copies of selected overheads as well as the book 'Miljøhensyn i produktudvikling' (Environmental Considerations in Product Development).
