The course objective is to increase engineers’ understanding of the importance of design and increase their ability to identify and understand design qualities. The objective is also to promote motivation, knowledge and the ability to collaborate successfully with designers and to provide understanding for the role of the designer in a product development project.

The course participants will be able to evaluate and create their own design suggestions.

During the course, participants are introduced to the following topics:

• Perception
• Ergonomics
• Communication
• Degress of freedom in design work
• Product concepts
• User interface
• Ethics
• Aesthetics

The course is intended for development and design professionals in the mechanical and mechatronical industries.

The duration of the course is usually five consecutive days.

The teaching staff is made up of IPU staff with backgrounds in engineering and design, all of whom have several years of experience with development projects that include industrial design.

The course is a standard course, which can be adapted to fit the individual company.
