»When Labofa's new system of office chairs was being developed, the company wanted to create a family of chairs based on a concept which could combine our desire to be able to create many variants, and to have a chair which was easy to produce, with our requirements for design, ergonomics and ease of operation.

Labofa chose IPU to lead the project of developing this concept in collaboration with our own development department. To assist the development of the concept, IPU carried out consumer investigations, test of usability, evaluated alternative technologies, analysed competing products and so on. By deliberately creating alternative concepts, IPU and Labofa's development department could from the earliest phase of the project decide on all important features of the chairs: user friendliness, ergonomics, modularisation, form of production and manufacturing price.

Labofa went on from there to create the detailed design, and are now in a position to offer an attractive and competitive family of office chairs, 'EFO', which completely lives up to the working title for the project: 'the office chair of the future'.«
