»At Migatronic, production rationalization starts when our new products take shape on the 'drawing board'. Through the collaboration which we have had with IPU for many years, we have come to recognize that the designer can use Design for Manufacture, DFM, to design himself to a much greater improvement in productivity than automation on its own can bring.

An example of this is our 'inverter'-based power supply. In collaboration with IPU, this power supply was developed using the DFM procedure, with a special emphasis on the conceptual design.

The result of this project was a power supply which can be included as an independent module in all our continuously adjustable welding machines. This extremely robust module has increased the productivity of assembly operations by a large factor, and has at the same time reduced the company's overhead costs.«
