Concept development
Often, products are complex in structure, as they consist of many different parts, each with one or more functions. Moreover, products also partake in complex interactions with different product users. Often, this complexity makes it difficult to keep track of the many qualities of the product, without getting lost in the details.
Concept development allows for an overview of the primary qualities and contexts of a product at an early stage. When developing new products a series of considerations need to be made before bringing the product onto the market; e.g. production, assembly, distribution, marketing, sales, maintenance, disposal, etc.
In the concept development phase, we consider not only the technical functions of the product, but also the many conditions to which the product is exposed during its service life.
