EXAMPLES OF DESIGN FOR ASSEMBLY PROJECTS
A typical DFA project starts from an existing product, where the assembly costs have been found too high. In other cases, in the late phases on a development project, sometimes the assembly qualities of the new product are not optimal. Often, this is due to the fact that the development work frequently focuses on function, meeting time schedules etc., and less so on production and assembly qualities.
In such cases, IPU can enter into a project and, based on a product analysis, present alternative product structures with different and better assembly qualities.
In other cases, IPU participates in projects, which focuses on assembly from the beginning. In these situations, IPU joins the project group and works on assembly qualities alongside the product development.
IPU has learned that the latter approach brings about the best and most optimal results.
