Design for Manufacture
For a number of years, IPU has worked in the field called Design for Manufacture. IPU has carried out a large number of development projects that focus on DFM. Experiences from these projects have formed the base for the pamphlet Design for Manufacture, which, among other things, mentions how IPU performs DFM projects.
The point of departure for IPU's work in DFM is the early stages of the product development, as experience has shown that the greatest potentials lie in these stages. DFM is not only about reducing costs, but also about other significant aspects of production: risk, time, flexibility, efficiency etc. DFM work is done at four levels: the company level, family level, structural level and the component level. And in the right order!
Examples of DFM projects:
MIGATRONIC
RADIOMETER
V-ZUG
