CasusGrill, the enviromentally friendly grill for single use

The Idea behind CasusGrill is a disposable grill that can become one with nature after use. The physical material and design challenge required a complete reinvention of the classical design.

Together with the company IPU tackled the main technical challenges resulting from the requirement to have no metals in the product and at the same time maintaining fire safety. Namely it is challenging achieve an effective fire barrier out of natural materials that must degrade away safely afterwards. Also designing a product that allows for using a grate made out of bamboo without it catching on fire required new solutions to be developed and tested.

To tackle the technical challenges IPU applied our design methodology and advanced material expertise. Due to IPU is situated at the Technical University of Copenhagen (DTU) and both university knowledge, students and testing for in depth problem solving and broader screening of potential solutions to arrive at the most effective and low cost solution.

The product has won numerous awards including a Danish Design award in 2017 and it now stands of another case of sustainable design that leads to a better product overall. Today the product is sold on all continents and IPU is ready to solve technical challenges that stand in the way for your ideas to become innovative products.

CasusGrill has taken two patents on the disposable grill in cooperation with IPU.
