Large EU-project: IPU delivers first-class software for supermarket refrigeration
SuperSmart is an EU project to speed up the uptake of more energy-efficient refrigeration, heating and cooling solutions for Europe’s food retail sector by reducing its energy use, lowering its environmental footprint and increasing its economic benefits.
The project reaches all those that make decisions for the new technology, set the frameworks and those supporting the uptake of greener solutions in Europe’s food retail sector.
In their report, the EU-project “SuperSmart Supermarket” documents the usability of IPU’s software Pack Calculation Pro and describes it as one of the most valuable tools for planning commercial refrigeration systems.
Pack Calculation Pro is a simulation tool for calculating and comparing the yearly energy consumption of refrigeration systems and heat pumps. It uses load profiles and weather data to calculate the performance of different configurations of refrigeration systems. Our comprehensive database of real compressors makes it possible to compare the performance of different products using a single definition for the operating conditions.
“SuperSmart Supermarket” aims at reducing the environmental footprint of food retail stores and reducing costs by improving the energy-efficiency of supermarkets in Europe. In their report number 5 “Computational tools for supermarket planning”, the consortium writes:
Amongst the tools described in this report, it [Pack Calculation Pro] is one of the most useful tools for planning the refrigeration system, since it includes many desired features (component database, user-friendly interface, automatic report generation) and also recent refrigeration system layouts.
